Dr. Darren Forst

B.Sc.E.E., D.D.S., M.Sc., F.R.C.D. (C)

Certified Specialist in Orthodontics

Dr. Forst was born and raised in Edmonton and is ecstatic to be providing orthodontic care in a place he calls home. He currently lives in Edmonton with his wife Simrit and daughter Mayva. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading books to and playing with his daughter, travelling (when safe to do so), and most of all making people laugh with his sharp wit. It is rare not to hear laughter from patients when Dr. Forst is around. He prides himself on smile design and aesthetics to provide optimal treatment results in the most efficient way possible.

Dr. Forst has a long history at the University of Alberta, spanning an incredible 14 years. He received his Electrical Engineering degree with distinction in 2006. From there he continued his studies and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011 where he graduated first in his class and was awarded the Alberta Dental Association and College Gold Medal. It was during dental school where he met his wonderful wife Simrit, who is also a dentist specializing in Pediatric Dentistry.

Following dental school, Dr. Forst completed a General Practice Dental Residency at the University of Alberta Hospital where he became well versed in the dental management of medically complex patients and dental trauma. You will still see Dr. Forst in the Emergency Dental Clinic at the University of Alberta Hospital after hours instructing 4th year dental students and managing dental trauma.

Following the completion of his residency program, Dr. Forst went on to pursue his specialty training in Orthodontics at the University of Alberta. Having successfully completed the Masters program in 2015, along with the challenging Royal College of Dentists of Canada examinations, he now has the honor of being a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics.

During his specialty training, Dr. Forst was fortunate to practice general dentistry in Sherwood Park on a part time basis where he fell in love with the community. It was during this time that he met Dr. Bryun Sigfstead, a highly respected staple in the orthodontic community in Edmonton and area for decades.  He was sad to see Dr. Sigfstead transition into retirement, but excited to continue to provide the very best treatment at his clinic implementing the newest treatment modalities.

Dr. Forst feels very fortunate to have completed all his training at the place he calls home, and looks forward to attending to the orthodontic needs of his patients in a laughter filled environment. He is passionate to provide the very best orthodontic care to his patients and looks forward to personally meeting you and designing your new smile.
